PROVERBS 16:18-19
"PRIDE GOES BEFORE DESTRUCTION AND AN HAUGHTY SPIRIT BEFORE A FALL.BETTER IT IS TO BE OF A HUMBLE SPIRIT WITH THE LOWLY THAN TO DIVIDE THE SPOIL WITH THE PROUD".
HUMBLE means thinking that you are not better or more important than other people. The opposite of HUMBLE is PRIDE. PRIDE means feeling you are better than other people.
From our Bible Text,it shows that PRIDE leads to destruction but being HUMBLE is not.People these days,find it difficult to humble themselves because of the little height they have reached. No matter who you are or what you have accomplished, you are still either female or male and it is not one day you get to where you are.So be humble.
In James 4:6
"But he give grace,wherefore he said, God resist the proud but give grace unto the humble
"Do you see that?. A proud man cannot receive anything from God.Being humble brings lifting.
How will you be doing if your status is increased by God today? You can best answer this question if you look at how you are doing in your present stage in life.
An Humble person is a fool in the eyes of a proud man not knowing that he is the fool.Pride will take you to no where but only distraction.(Read Proverbs 14:3).
To avoid being proud,you will have to;
1.Commit your works to God.Proverbs 16:1-5.
2.Submit yourself to the elders or people.1 peter 5:56.This can be when you give chance to people to talk to you,be it a person younger than you.
Abigail was Humble that is why her servant could tell her what her husband did wrong. With the information she got from her servant, it save her and her household from being destroyed.(Read 1 Samuel 25:1-40).
Repent today from your proud ways,then will the Lord lift you high.
PRAYER POINTS
1.Lord,I repent today from my proud ways, I receive an humble spirit in Jesus name.Amen.
2.Lord show me Mercy and grace in the name of Jesus. Amen.
3.Lord whatever good thing that pride have stop in my life,Restore to me now that good things in Jesus. Amen.
