Have salt in yourself
Jesus extol the virtues of salt. He declared, salt is good. But went on to ask a pertinent question, how can salt be seasoned, if it loses it originality?
"Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another." (Mark :9:50)
I am sure what the Master was actually asking is what is the essence of a thing, if that thing has lost it's essence? How can salt lost his saltiness? How can a man lose his way? How can a man not recognise the the essence of his being?
Jesus finally says, "have salt in yourself". Have some essence, some preservation, some flavour, some seasoning in yourself. And then live in peace with others. If you do not discover the essence of your being, that is, if you do not have salt in yourself, you cannot live in peace with others. You would be too fragmented to be whole, to be 'single' enough to be able to relate successfully with others. Have salt in yourself
